Hello everybody. About a week ago I bought a second-hand Sansa e250 for the purpose of using rockbox, and it's veeery sweet.
I've set up the dev-environment on my linux-box, and I'm going to write some plugins that will be useful to musicians. First I'm going to have a go at a metronome app, as versatile as I can make it, and then I'll try to make a decent tuner app that makes use of the microphone. The tuner is probably gonna prove to be a bit hard, but it should be possible I think.
Is there anyone out there that knows other things musicians might like (apart from MIDI playback which is perfectly fine on my sansa if I don't use more than 3-4 instruments per file  :)).

evilnick:
There is already a metronome plugin (Plugins > Applications > Metronome) so that would be a good place to start, and perhaps expand the options.

The tuner would be really great, and the metronome does need some expanding.

jochen:
What about a plugin that can just play a note or chord that you can specify using

 * a keyboard
 * a guitar/bass fretboard with different string setups
 * a textual interface where you can choose notes by their "name", for example f#''
 * a staff with the most common clefs
 * guitar tablature...

This would be nice to "tune" instruments or choirs (just in case you forgot your fork but brought your dap ;-) )

Chronon:
Some sort of DSP effects for processing signals at line-in (obviously only available for certain targets).  (Ideas: distortion, flanger, EQ, delay, etc.)

There is indication that this sort of thing should be possible on those targets that have suitable hardware:
