Has spinlock patch been added to builds?
« on: July 10, 2009, 03:14:47 PM »
I tried looking through release notes to find out.  Didn't find any mention of it (FS#8568, spinlock or otherwise).

I tried to patch the latest source, but it fails on every file.  Tried v2, v3 and the standalone ata patch.  All three patches are old, maybe they won't work with newer releases(?)

I am loving rockbox for its advantages over the ipod video 60gb stock, but the drive thrashing and hanging issues are driving me crazy.

If this is not part of the current build, can someone with skills PLEASE patch a recent build for this device.

I don't know about that patch, but if you look at the closing comment to the task, it says a patch to fix the problem was committed, so at very least you would first have to remove that patch.  Although since it says its fixed, I'm not sure what applying one of those old patches would accomplish even if it worked.

Thanks for responding.

It looked like the thread on that patch kinda died off a year ago, and the related tasks are different issues.  The problem the patch addresses still exists with this device.  For the first ten minutes after power on, the drive thrashes and the unit is almost unresponsive.  This is without the database or dir cache.  I have no idea what it is doing during that time.

Is there any way you could push this along to someone?  The software is almost perfect otherwise, but this bug is maddening.

BTW...are you in the Saratoga area?
