Anounce new themes on the frontpage (or somewhere else)
« on: July 08, 2009, 09:33:53 AM »
In the good old times, when we used to have the Wps galleries situated in the wiki, anytime a new theme, respectively a new modification to theme, was comitted, the front page would list this as a wiki change. Now that the new themes site is up and running, themes get uploaded, but you never know when the last recent activity has taken place in that domain. I herefore call to create a section either on the frontpage, or at least on the theme site itself, which lists this activity. what do you think?

When I visit http://themes.rockbox.org my browser shows me a little icon in the address bar that indicates a RSS feed being available for that site. Click it and you get that feed ...

The RSS feed is a good option... still, I think BdN3504's original suggestion would be great

I'm not really sure how much good a "the last five theme updates" could really do. It'd be quite easy to miss ones for your player, anyway.

Why is it preferable to a persistent RSS feed?

I agree with llorean, i think the rss feed is preferable and as is said i think the rss feed is the most elegant way to present changes. i just didn't realize there was a feed due to my changing browser themes alot which display the availability of rss feeds in different manners.
for that matter, i still think it'd do no harm if we put a line like:
"stay up to date with the latest theme releases by subscribing to the rss feed." on the themes site.
