iHP-120 Rockbox-Installation without HD?

(1/1)

ihp120_flasher:
Hi Folx,

I'm actually failing at a serious problem with my iHP-120: As the old harddisk died, before I could install the new Rockbox-bootlader, all the commonly known errors occur: The original Firmware is booting, the installed CF-card can be accessed via USB, but I am not able to activate Rockbox on my iHP-120.
So I'm wondering, if there is a way to replace the original bootloader using the CF. Or will I have to apply a "basic-flash" to the iRiver directly using a programming cable (i.e. JTAG...). And if I'll have to do so - could anyone give me advice, HOW to do it?

Thank you very much in advance,
Chris

sorry. there's a guy working on a bdm flasher for the h120 (it doesn't have jtag in the usual sense) but it's in the early stages and still lacks things like the ability to read or write flash.

Best to find someone who can loan you a drive, or find some other 50 pin drive on ebay. You could even use a CF style microdrive in your CF adapter - there's a guy selling 2.5gb microdrives for $7.50 shipped.

Edit: Oops, I lied. there are BDM flashing tools out there - LinusN has one, and so does some other guy. But you'd still need a BDM programmer, and finding another drive is much cheaper.

I want to thank you very much for your reply - I've already shot a Seagate Microdrive at ebay and will have another try next week!

Kind regards,
Chris

As you suggested me, I connected my recently received microdrive. It doesn't work anyway  >:(
So I ordered a Toshiba MK2006GAL now.
