E260R bricked. Then reloaded non 'R' firmware......Heeeelllllppp!

nebbit:
My E260R came from ebay the other day. And like an idiot I tried to get Rockbox running and bricked it.
So, then I read the wiki and somehow now have non 'R' firmware on it. So, once again I tried to unbrick it using the firmware suggested thru the wiki. Now nothing seem to take. I've used Manufacturing mode and e200tool to no avail. Can someone please walk me thru this.....
Thanks

What did you actually do?

You installed the non-R firmware or it came with the non-R?

What happened when you tried to restore with e200tool?

nebbit:
First, It came with 'R'.
I tried to put Rockbox on it and bricked it. ('Load main image failed. Switch to Recovery mode')
Second, Reading thru the forums and wiki I thought I knew what I had to do.
Well copying the PP5022.mi4 file to the 16MD-FORMAT did not work.
Third, after many iterations of copying the files I went for the e200tool method. And I think what happened is that I did not know what PP5022.mi4 file went with the E260R and I got the wrong file and I am where I am now.
So, I hope that gives you the jist of it. Any help would greatly appreciated.

How?  This matters . . .

e200tool doesn't write anything to the disk, so I don't think you can actually do anything wrong with it.  Though again if you explained what you did it might make it easier to suggest what you did wrong.

That's the problem. Like an idiot I just dove in and didn't really pay attention.
Is there a way to just get back to the original firmware/software?
Sorry for being an idiot.....  :(

Now when I use tool to load the bootloader first then it goes into recovery mode and I copy the bootloader, PP5022.mi4, and the sansa.fmt files to the 16MB-FORMAT disk. Format seems to work. It reboots and I get the msg "Load main image failed" "Switch to Recovery mode". I've repeated this several time to get no further. One thing I'm not too clear about is when to hold the REC button and when release it. Maybe that's one problem....

Hope that helps.
