Griffin iTalk with IPOD 4G Grayscale works?

(1/1)

Eyals:
Hi,

I'm thinking to migrate my Ipod 4G grayscale to Rockbox, and i haven't found a conclusive answer after I've searched the forums:

My iTalk connects to the top of the ipod to the mic connector and line out connector. When it connects, a menu appears with recording/stopping options.

Will it work with Rockbox and i'll be able to record?

Many thanks!
Eyal

Last I heard there is no reason to believe any accessories using the upper serial port will work (for that is what the socket next to the headphone jack is).

That being said - if the microphone in the Griffin iTalk is wired up passively, microphone recording in Rockbox might work.  With the excellent Rockbox Utility to do your install there is no risk and no muss and next to no time for an install.

Also, FWIW, the line-in and line-out are on the bottom of the iPod on the dock port.
