Unfortunately I do not have access to linux, might do later but won't be for a while. Sorry about that, I'll try then if I can.

@all

r21580 went in and fixed the 6 folders deep error. Thanks to Magnus Holmgren (learman) for his rapid analysis and fixing of this problem. He actually did two fixes to the database code; one in r21576 and one in r21580. Both have improved the stability of the database building on coldfire devices.

Glad to have this resolved, I was beginning to think I would never be able to get off my July 2008 build ! : D

Thanks again all.

I think you deserve some of the kudos for taking the time to work through the issue and come up with a clear and concise description of the issue and how to reproduce it.

While I have not fixed any bugs in Rockbox (and this would have been way too deep for me), I used to develop and good bug reports are the key to quick reliable fixes.

Seriously, good work on back tracing and testing your error so that the devs could reproduce. It's not often anyone who programs gets that kind of good feedback (negative can be good, see! ;D), as I also program, out of 40~50 people who've used anything I've done, I've only ever gotten good feedback once.

Latest build r21590M has done the trick... I actually have a database back! Great work on the bugfix, learman. Chronon, you are truly master of the forums.

I agree.  This is a good example of how bug reports help the project improve.

@ComposerDude
I only updated this discussion with the news from the front page.
