GIGABEAT F-40 HELP!!!!
GodEater:
Uuuuh, no. There are instructions there for if you've already loaded Rockbox too. Read the page carefully.
El Jefer:
yea im statrtin from scratch. All i had to do was refresh the library, sure gave me a scare though, but yea all of my music is being copied to my pc, but what do i do after, the manual just says ti rename the files in the actual gigabeat it doesn't say if i should delete everything from the gigabeat and then upload everything that has just been copied to my pc. am i supposed to delete everything off of the gigabeat and upload the new files.
GodEater:
The problem with the Gigabeat-F is that in order to being able to play your music in both the Original Firmware (the one it arrived with) and Rockbox, you need two copies of each song on the player. This is because (as I explained earlier), Rockbox cannot play the encrypted music that the Original Firmware understands, and the Original Firmware does not understand unencrypted music that Rockbox does.
So the answer to your question depends on what you want to do.
1) Play your music only in Rockbox
Then yes, you might as well delete the .SAT files from the player.
2) Play your music in the Original Firmware and in Rockbox
Then no, you'll need to leave the .SAT files there.
I'm presuming you have all this music backed up on your PC as well right ?
El Jefer:
All my music is being copied to my PC as we speak, i will back it up to a potable hardrive when its done. there is no point in having SAT files and MP3 files so i guess i will delete the .SAT file and then upload all MP3 and just use rock box. im guessing i can always go back its just gana take a long time to secure all of those files again.
thanks
GodEater:
No problem.
Welcome to the Rockbox family :D
