It may be a triviality, but it's required by the forum guidelines. So, it was actually rather rude of you to not have bothered in the first place.
Since your suggestion included the idea of writing a driver for it, it was at least somewhat relevant. For example, many people make suggestions for features that already exist, and since it was clear you'd made a feature request without trying the latest version, you needed to know that the guideline existed.
I'd suggest reading the forum guidelines, as you agreed to do when registering, before posting again. Now that you're aware of them, future breaches of them will be considered knowingly ignoring them.
