Cannot delete music off e280
(1/1)
jasper:
I cannot delete music off my e280 using rockbox. Also when I update the data base it has repeated song/artist adding and taking more memory. I have read several posts on how to delete music, but it doesn't seem to go to these screens. I use windows media player to put music on the player, but also can't get music to delete when I try and go through that. I need some computer illiterate instructions on how to delete music off my sandisk sansa e280 , (I believe it's an R model). Do I use the pc or can I do it just from the mp3 player itself. Also, is there a way to keep the mp3 player from repeating copies of the same song already on the player when updated?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Chronon:
Your Rockboxed player just behaves as a UMS device. You can employ any appropriate methods to delete files on it (e.g. browse and delete files using a file browser). You can also delete files using Rockbox's own file browser.
Regarding duplicate entries in the database, there is an open bug here: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/8414
Check the comments near the end for some settings that seem to provide a workaround for people.
aaron424:
You can delete directly through rockbox by highlighting the directory, holding the center button and then select "delete directory"
John Brown:
In rockbox (assuming you have a up to date build) you can click on the file then delete it (http://www.ehow.com/how_2023687_delete-files-sansa.html)
Get Mp3 tag or Media Monkey (Search Google) to help sort out you music and tags as they may be the things causing the problems.
NB I don't think the Rockbox Admins will appreciate you asking 'basic' computer questions about deleting that could be done using search (I could be wrong though).

I love that you of all people are telling him this ;)
