"Stop after current"-feature
« on: June 15, 2009, 08:51:04 AM »
Hi folks,

I would surely love to see a "Stop after current"-Feature in ROCKbox.
I have read this suggestion in another thread (http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=7580.0) but it wasn't liked by the other people posting there and was off-topic anyway in that thread.
Reactions of people in that thread were like "Who needs it?", "I don't know who should need it", "What's the point?" aso.
But let me tell you how great such a feature is.
When I listen to music on my Sansa e200 series, I don't want to just stop the music when a track is just playing.
The fading time when stopping is, as far as I know, not configurable and it's much too short to me.
If I want to stop listening to music, I just want this track to end and no track to play after that.
It's hard to hit the stop button just when the track has ended, and the great gapless ability of ROCKbox makes it no easier.
Winamp has this feature, please, please, implement it!
And please add an option which lets you determine whether the current or the next song should be played when resuming playback (Winamp doesn't have THIS feature yet - it plays the current song by default which is... let's say... not so clever).

Seb.

No. Why? You need to understand how development works. Features are not added because someone comes like "please please" and "program X does it". Features are added when someone actually *does* the work and implements it and those features are considered useful.

As for your issue there is a similar feature already in the tracker: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9114 Please search first.

Rockbox already has this feature - you just need to set up a one entry playlist, and set Repeat to off.

As far as I understand he wants a slightly different feature: have a "stop after currently playing track", so I'd consider it a special "stop mode".

I've already linked that task, and from my understanding it's not completely what the OP wants.

Ah, so you did.   :D

I guess I didn't read very carefully last time.

It sounds like Sebastian wants a way to crop the current playlist to include only the currently playing track.  At least that's one way to achieve "stop playback after the current track".

edit: Sebastian, the title of each post is a link that points to itself (a link and an anchor).  You can paste its URL if you want to indicate a particular post instead of a whole topic.  I originally had trouble seeing what that topic had to do with this one.
