Thai font display incorrected.
« on: June 11, 2009, 05:58:19 AM »
As screen dump below is the current Thai font display. Usually Thai letters have upper and lower letters too!.  The letter position is wrong, but there's no letter compensation now.

But the picture below is the correct letter position display (fake picture I do myself)

How can I correct the upper/lower letter position?  :P

Hard to read now!

Have a look at this page: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CreateFonts

If you have the font in .bdf format you can use a tool like Font Forge to edit the glyphs.  Then use convbdf to convert to Rockbox's .fnt format.

If you fix this issue an updated font would be welcomed on the tracker.  :)

thanks a lot... I'm gonna try...

Hi ,

yesterday , I convert ttf file from my widndows font (thai font) .

the converter is ok. But  the upper /lower vowel position still incorrect!

I don't understand why?    But the original ipod firmware can display vowel correctly.

May it's the problem about Unicode Sout east asian script.

 >:(

Again!

Do rockbox have or support Unicode or TIS-620 standard?

Rockbox supports UTF-8.  I'm not sure about TIS-620.

Rockbox supports UTF-8.  I'm not sure about TIS-620.

So why original ipod firmwrae can display the vowel correctly (Font edit by ipodwizard)  but can not for rockbox.  I really don't understand  ::)

but I found this

TIS-620 is a conventionally structured Extended ASCII national character set that retains full compatibility with 7-bit ASCII and uses the 8-bit range hex A1 to FB for encoding the Thai alphabet. Due to the complex combining nature of Thai vowels and diacritics, TIS-620 is intended for information interchange only, and an additional display engine is required to compose characters correctly.

What does the original iPod firmware have to do with anything?
