Help! After RTC mod my h120 wont's start up any more!

So I installed the RTC mod in my h120 but I jacked something up in the process.  Now the play button won't turn on the player any more.  I thought it might be a problem with the button itself so I desoldered that.  But then when I connected the two play button contacts manually the player still didn't start. 

I tested the contacts and they have a potential difference of a little over half a volt, which is what it's supposed to be, I think.  Could I have damaged something in the soldering process?  I thought I was being pretty careful but with quarters being so tight I may have done something unintended.

I also tested for continuity between adjacent pins at my various solder points and everything seemed to be unconnected where it was supposed to be unconnected.  The only slight weirdness was that in the hole where one connects the RTC chip to ground, there's continuity between that hole and the adjacent one.  It looks like they're actually connected on the circuit board, but I can't be certain.  Can anyone confirm that?

I haven't tried starting it with the remote -- I suppose that's something I should give a shot.

Maybe there's a problem with something adjacent to one of my solder points?  The element labeled C110 next to the Play button is particularly close and tiny, for instance.  Or R97, R98 or R82 (near the connection points for the I2C bus).

If it'll help I can post a picture tonight.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I really don't want to have bricked my player :(

Saturday June 6th Addendum: I tried starting the player with the remote but still no dice.  This tells me it's probably not a problem with the play button.  I guess my next step is to disconnect all the RTC solder points on the board and hope that that fixes a short that I may not have spotted before.  If that works I may or may not attempt to reconnect the RTC chip.  We'll see.  Wish me luck.

I recently attempted to RTC mod my h120 but unfortunately screwed something up in the process.  I think I may have shorted out the battery while I was working on it (perhaps I shouldn't have left the battery plugged in while I worked on it?) and then it wouldn't turn on at all.  I was afraid that all was lost.  I desoldered the failed RTC mod and nothing changed.  I plugged it into the wall, though, and the charging light came on, and then it was able to turn on again (thank goodness).  Maybe the battery's safeguard circuits kicked in and shut it down until it again received charging current?

Unfortunately, when I start it up now, it doesn't get past the bootloader.  I'm using bootloader v7pre4 (because I recently did a CF mod).  Every time I turn it on now, it presents me with the boot menu (boot from disk, ram, rom, or shut down), and after I choose a load source it then invariably spits out an ATA -11 error.

I've read elsewhere in these forums that ATA -11 means that it can't access the disk.  I'm thinking now that I might have screwed something up with the daughterboard, perhaps when I was soldering the power wire to the suggested component on the lower left of the board (see the RTC mod page for reference: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/RTCModH1x0).

Can anyone give me some clues about how I can troubleshoot this problem?  Can Rockbox give me any debug info that might help?  Has anyone else encountered a similar problem, and if so were you able to solve it?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

There's been a development.  I discovered that I could charge it still, and that charging it suddenly fixed the unable-to-power-on problem.  I guess the battery had shut itself down for some reason while I was working onthe player.  Maybe I should have unplugged it while I worked on it?

Anway, now it'll turn on but it just gives me an ATA -11 error.  Progress, but I'm not sure what to do next.  I've posted a query on the hardware forum, figuring that the gurus that hang out there might have some insights.  Hopefully it's not a huge faux-pas to post another message like that....
