rbutil to install a local custom build
« on: June 04, 2009, 08:17:53 PM »

Hi all,

Is there any way to specify in the rbutil that it should use a local zip file for the bootloader and rockbox build instead of downloading?

Thanks,
-sg

No. RBUtil is designed for installing official builds. There are manual install processes that you'll need to use if you're installing an unsupported build.

Please ignore this message...I figured it out.....and my hack worked!  I unbricked my H340 thanks to Rockbox!

##########################################################

I have and H340 that is damaged somehow.  Even with no usb connection, the bootloader always loads up in "Bootloader USB mode".  I have built a hacked version of the bootloader and rockbox that should avoid this, but I can't install it because the instructions for loading the firmware require me to get past the "bootloader USB mode".  Even the OEM firmware has this problem (I can't get to the update firmware menu).

This question probably belongs in another forum, but I'll ask anyway:

Is there a command line way to update the bootloader?

I do have access to the H340 filesystem (when I actually do physically connect to usb, it does mount the drive and give access).

Assuming I have just built a custom bootloader and I have all the files produced (e.g. bootloader.bin, bootloader.elf...etc), how can I command line install it without access to the original firmware and the "update firmware" menu item?

Thanks!
-sg

ps.  I know all this is dangerous, but the H340 is now basically a bricked anyway, so I'm not afraid to roll the dice.
