Date and Time iRiver HP120
« on: May 28, 2009, 11:37:35 AM »
I could almost swear that before i put rockbox on this, about a year + ago, I could set the time and date.
When I use it for recordings, I get spurious date and times.

Am I having way to many senior moments or is the ability to set the date/time simply not available? OR is there another way to do so.

The iHP-120 does not have a real time clock chip. So no, it didn't have this feature. It's possible to have it, but you need to have physically attached such a chip internally, and be running a customized build to use that chip.

Well, then, I've been just dreaming about having set the date/time, although I've heard of others putting in a chip - just didn't understand until this.

I'm assuming then, that there isn't anyway of date/time stamping (inserting) for recordings?

There's a rather easily done hardware mod that adds a RTC chip. It works fine if you're comfortable soldering SMD chips. The wiki holds details about it. Also, for a short while the h100 builds had the RTC feature enabled and used some auto-detection method to disable the respective menus if no RTC was detected. Maybe you picked one of those builds (can't remember when that was the case but that's definitely more than 1 year ago) and the detection was broken for exactly that build. I haven't checked but I'm not aware that the detection wasn't working properly. Still it's a possibility so you indeed might have seen that menu.

No, except doing the mentioned hardware mod.
