What is the intended use of the USB HID feature?

i'm afraid i don't get this new usb hid stuff. after switching to r21065, anytime i connect my sansa e260 with my xp machine, i am asked to install drivers which i deny. then i'm able to play stop pause etc. in foobar using my e260, but not with the according keys, only with the help of the debug menu. i find this rather annoying. is there any way to configure the sansa to connect as a disk in rb again? or will i have to revert to before this hid commit?

Llorean:
It should still show up as a disk as well. I'm using 21085 without any problems at all. It shows as both a portable disk and works as a media controller. No driver prompt either.

You should probably update first, see if that fixes it. As always, we ask that you not post about problems you're having with older versions.

Now all I want is a Sansa e200 skin for WinAmp.

The Hard drive F: is my external USB drive which works fine. Normally the Sansa would be listed as removable drives G: and H:, but since the commit, it doesn't show up at all. The Rockbox media player device is shown, when i try to automatically install the new hardware. this dialogue pops up any time i plug in the sansa.
It also is not present in the Hard drive Manager.

Llorean:
If you can get to the debug menu, you're not entering USB mode at all.

Are you using an official, unmodified build? It sounds like the standard behaviour when someone's holding Select and preventing USB connection.
