Sort by album
Eli Gundry:
Sometimes, when I'm listening to my whole database of songs on shuffle, I would like to listen to the song that comes after it on the album by just switching shuffle off and waiting for the next song. I could do this with my previous players, but for some reason, can't figure out a way to do this on this player.
I can see only one other way to do this, which is to manually enter each album into one playlist in order. I'd rather not do this, as I add and subtract music from my player often. Is there any way to accomplish this task?
Llorean:
If you have a "Music" folder (or any folder name, really), with songs underneath it in any sort of hierarchy that ends with one folder per album at the lowest level, at any point you can "Insert" that folder into an empty playlist, turn on shuffle, listen to your music shuffled, and if you turn off shuffle, it will play the next song from that album next.
Eli Gundry:
That is a fair point I suppose.
The only problem I have with that is that I'd have to remake the playlist when I add or subtract music. I can't see why we can't have the option to sort the root playlist by album/artist/year/whatever as opposed to just by alphabetical order.
Should I try to request this feature?
Llorean:
It should only take a few seconds to remake the playlist, you don't even have to save it.
When you add new music, since you're listening shuffled anyway, just stop playback, and insert that folder again.
Eli Gundry:
What about sorting by other definitions, like year, for example.
I hate to raise a stink and act like a d-bag, but you already have a similar function in the file view, with the ability to sort the file system by alphabetics and dates.
