How to remove 'Files', 'Database' & 'Plugins' from the menu?
abdu`:
I am setting up an iPod with Rockbox to be used for a blind using voice. The person will use the device for playing audio files and nothing else. I need to remove all irrelevant menu items like 'Files', 'Database' & 'Plugins' ..etc to make navigation as simple as possible.
Can this be done?
saratoga:
You can comment out the code that draws them and then compile a new build without them. Although offhand I can't remember where its located in rockbox, theres been a few threads about doing this before, so you can either search the forums or search the code for the right files to edit.
Llorean:
How are they going to access their music and choose which songs to play without the Files option?
As well, Rockbox can be navigated blind with the voice option. Rather than needing to compile them a custom build, why not set up voice so that they can actually know what they're choosing and simply not choose them?
abdu`:
The Files menu can stay.
I already have the voice installed. I wanted to take the other menu options off so they don't have to listen to them all the time when they will never use them.
Also Is there a way to have the files menu contain the mp3's? Right now I have the mp3's under the playlist folder which shows under the Files menu. When the the user selects the Files menu, the playlists shows but there's no voice. This could confuse the user.
Llorean:
"Files" just shows the root folder of the drive. You can then browse anywhere. You should look into creating .talk clips for the device so that it can read the file tree.
