USB Device Charger runs really hot with Rockbox (was: Wait? What!?)

I have a Minty Boost that is just a USB device charger, anyway what is up with this.

If I am useing the apple firmware the minty boost will only get slightly warm like it usually does.

If I use rockbox the thing gets so hot it melts the hot glue I have holding it all together!? 

WAT!?

Sereously this makes NO SENSE!
