Rockbox 3.2 (or newer) and iPod 3G - odd behaviour.
« on: May 20, 2009, 12:31:30 PM »
I can't get this to work properly it seems: Using rockbox, the iPod reacts very bad to the "touchbuttons" of a 3G, maybe a followup bug of something else. The select button doesn't work, either, as far as I can see. It has no function anywhere if I touch it. Navigating menus up and down with the wheel works, I enter menus using the forward button etc, but that's about it. I also have to touch every button up to 6 times or so till it finally does something.

Back in apples own firmware, this isn't the case, the buttons work, also Select. They all react to a single touch. But: Since rockbox is on, the apple firmware also does something odd: Each time i Use select to enter a menu, it starts playing a new song.

Odd. I don't get it, as I seem to be the only one with this issue.

I had the same problem with pause and I have the iPod color.  Before when I installed it the pause would take a few seconds to actually pause.  Now it shows that it is paused but the music continues to play and nothing happens.  I just uninstalled rockbox as the changes they have made seems to make things worse.  Until they fix these I will stick with the Apple Firmware.

Have you filed proper bug reports? Have you performed any testing to figure out which revision introduced the problem?

Remember this is a community driven project. If you make no effort to contribute, you really shouldn't expect anything to change. It's only the people with the affected players who can provide more information.

I stopped using Rockbox some time ago and decided to just load my iPod with AAC files so I did not need Rockbox any longer.  I know Rockbox can handle AAC files but I just did not want to use Rockbox any longer so I wiped my iPod cleaned and just imported my music again.  When I loaded it up I was using the newest released Rockbox and I think it was on Saturday when I did this.  I did not file a bug report as I was at work and just wanted to listen to music so I just loaded up the Apple Firmware and continued on.  I will file a bug report but I will have to load Rockbox to it again and see if the problem goes away.  Some of the problems I had where due to the themes.  Some of them that were suggested just would show the first song as playing and then the next song coming up.  When that next song started to play it would still show the same screen until you got out and went to what is playing now and then it would show the right song until the next song.  I will play with it some more before I file a bug report though.
