I enabled voice, and songs won't play (E260)

Alright, so I got it to spell out the names of files and directories, but now I cannot play an .mp3 music file.
Can anyone help?

What are you pressing? What happens, exactly? What shows on the screen?

T-random:
I am moving from menu to menu, using the center button; nothing shows up as I have a broken screen.

Llorean:
Are you using the file browser or the database? Please, try to be very clear. "moving from menu to menu" doesn't tell me much at all, especially since there's no menu you can play music from with the exception of the "resume playback" option in the main menu.
