sorry if upercase offends it is easier to read and type. I had the caps lock on
when I typed as i was working on some thing where all caps is a requiremnt.
I had not realised that capitalisation was still considered impolite below is the
non screaming version

first thanx for the great prodcut i was hanging out for something like this
as itunes was destroying my desire to listen to music.

i installed rock box about 4 weeks ago and after copying all the music over,
it had an initial problem where it would not play any of the mp3s (the files
are fine). i do not know what i did but it was ok the next day and has worked
fantastically for the last 4 weeks but now after putting 8 more albums on the
ipod nothing will play. the symptoms are strange

on startup  the msg "committing database 1/9 is displayed and it continues to 9/9
i play music by folder (files) when i select a folder it shows no contents, just the folder name
i press play and it shows a track, with 'next track' below and a count of all the extected files in it
then it shows one above the other (root) (root)  -
and returns to the main menu

anyone with ideas about this behaviour

It's not so much impolite as very hard to read. That actually also goes for text with no capitalization at all.

If you don't mind if people don't read your questions, I don't object to this...

It's not Caps Lock Day (or even the other Caps Lock Day) yet.

I find uppercase harder to read, and I don't see how it could be easier to type either in uppercase or lowercase...

:D I can't believe this.. have you only recently started using the internet?

I think you might have accidentally set the Database "Auto Update" setting on, which is just going to be a waste of time when you boot up if you're not actually using the database.

Check the "Show Files" setting.  Your files not showing up is an indicator that they are not in a format supported by Rockbox.

Sounds like the files are corrupted or otherwise not playable by Rockbox.  Since you mentioned iTunes, I suspect your files may be DRM-infected.  Rockbox does not (and can't and won't ever) play DRM files, so you will need to strip the DRM if you want to play them with Rockbox.

yes showing my ignorance of socio linguistics of the internet, the easy thing about caps or no caps is just to choose one and never look back, i prefer the caps lock. and I do not like the shift key, any way again sorry for he offensive typography

It is fixed you pointed out the way so thanx, general setting, file view show files this was not set to show all files. I think there are playlisst in the dirs and they were being shown and not the files, the playlists are form the harddisk store and do not relate to the ipod. I changed the setting and all working fine changed back and forth a few times and able to reproduce so I think it is sorted.

My girlfriend told me off for writing in capitals once but still I think people need to relax a little orthographic conventions are bound to change in favour of us minority capitalists

Are they going to follow the trend of not using punctuation correctly too ?
