I'm kinda new at this, but I hope this is the right place for it.
I acquired an iPod 5.5 video (V9M) with a bad 30g hard drive. Trying a 30gb ZIF connector Hitachi from a Dell Jukebox showed that it worked, but the connector was too offset to allow the drive to fit into the case.
EBay has a vendor for a 40gb Hitachi that shows the ZIF connector in the right place for $2 less than any of the 30gb Toshibas offered, so I went for one. Now it's installed, and I installed Rockbox in using the 30gb version. Is this the right one to use? What's the difference in the 60/80gb versions besides perhaps the battery life calculator?
Everything seems to work great, and I'm sold over what limited use of the iTunes environment I had, except that without warning it simply goes off. Doesn't seem to matter what menu I'm in. A hard reset brings it back, so I'm curious to find out if it's hard disc related. I wouldn't think HD capacity would be version dependent, but I'm not a developer of this type of software.
Any help would be very appreciated.
