iPodFoo: It should play those files eventually (unless you explicitly excluded them from the random folder list and you have Auto-Change Directory set to "Random").  The puzzle here seems to be in the ordering, not that they are played at all.

I see. But your right, its a puzzle indeed. I would have expected it to play all the albums under Music folder before itll goto the next available folder with tracks in.

Llorean: Now Im not clear on what you mean!

If you let it finish the third album, where is the fourth album it plays located?

- Third album is in H:\Music
- Fourth Album would be in H:\iPod_Control\Music

But theres more albums listed in the same folder as the Third album, so it should be playing:

- Forth album which is also in H:\Music

Why did you say "would be" rather than "is"? Have you tested the fourth album?

ps. Forth album are not the same album. Im just using your analogy of ordering. And yes, Ive tested it, plays fine.

So it constantly alternated between albums in \Music\ and \iPod_Control\ ?

I only have one album I transferred with itunes, but I suspect it would constantly alternate between albums in \Music\ and \iPod_Control\ if I had more in \iPod_Control\

Based on what?

What you *suspect* isn't terribly useful unless you back it up with actual evidence. The more hard info we have, the better we can help diagnose the issue. Suppositions aren't hard info.

Quick question.

If my tracks are like so:

H:\Music\Album1\
H:\Music\Album2\
H:\Music\Album3\
H:\Music\Album4\
H:\Music\track1.mp3
H:\Music\track2.mp3
H:\Music\track3.mp3

Would it play the loose tracks after the albums? Or does it scan back for folders?

Does this question have something to do with the problem you're having? It seems a new topic, and you still haven't answered the questions related to the issue you're running into.

I didnt realise the albums that were playing after the itunes ones were actually single mp3s. I didnt have show extensions on. So yes, its related.

Alright, so now you're saying the music being played is in this order?

H:\Music\Album1\songs.mp3
H:\iPod_Control\Music\songs.mp3
H:\Music\songs.mp3

Could you give us an actual list of paths and filenames? These placeholders are basically leaving out important clues, and it's apparent more are being left out when you're choosing to suspect things and tell us things happen that you haven't tested yet.

Please, give an exact list of the filenames that play, in what order.

It appears that, after finding no more subdirectories in the current directory, the search exits the directory and looks for the next directory containing music files.

If you initially choose the files in /Music/ does it continue to play the other subdirectories next?

Edit: I just verified that it does.  This means that the songs in /Music/ are before the subdirectories in the sort order.  Playback has to wrap all the way around to get back to them.

If you start with the songs in /Music/ then it should play in this order:
/Music/songs.mp3
/Music/Album1/songs.mp3
/iPod_Control/Music/F00/songs.mp3

If you start with the songs in /iPod_Control/Music/F00/ then it should play in this order:
/iPod_Control/Music/F00/songs.mp3
/Music/songs.mp3
/Music/Album1/songs.mp3

These predictions are consistent with the observed behavior that starting play with files in /Music/Album1/ leads to playback of songs in /iPod_Control/Music/ next (these cases are just cyclic permutations of each other).

H:\Music\AlbumA\1.mp3 - Plays First
H:\iPod_Control\Music\F00(Random folder name)\1.mp3 - Plays Second
The album in the tags of this is AlbumB
H:\Music\AlbumC\1.mp3 - Plays Third

That doesn't explain the above though.
