Battery Charger Circuit

Help Me!!
I am in a fault because i have used (by a mistake) an non original battery charger with 9V 1000mA with my jukebox recorder.
Now the recorder works but it doesn't recharge battery anymore (when the batteries are empy I have to take off and regharge them with an esternal charger and then put them into the recorder again). Please help me. There is a solution to repair this tragical mistake that I have made?.

Replace the chip named MC34063A. It's located near the Down button on the top PCB of the Recorder.
