Volume delay?
«
on:

Hi all. Using a Sansa e270. When I adjust the volume, either
up or down, there is a delay of about 2 or 3 seconds then a fade
up or down to the desired volume level. Most of the time the
level is not desired and is too loud or too soft, since the reaction
is not real time. Is there any way to disable this behavior? Thanks.

That's strange - exactly how are you adjusting the volume?

That's very odd - I haven't noticed that myself. What version of Rockbox?

It's version 3.2-090323.
I'm spinning the blue ring to turn the volume up and down.
I'll give it a spin or 2 and the volume just stays the same,
then 2 or 3 seconds later it fades up or down, usually to
a level that's too high or low because I can't tell where it
is while I'm spinning the ring.
BTW, when I boot into the Sandisk firmware the volume
control behaves normally. It responds immediately when
I spin the blue ring.
I have a 2GB micro SD card in it if it makes a difference.
Thanks.

What happens if you remove the config file out of your .rockbox folder (resetting the settings)?

I don't know. I deleted it before looking at it.
Here is config01.cfg (a backup?) dated 4/20/09, about the time
that the problem started. It probably doesn't contain whatever
was in it to cause the problem but here it is anyway:

Perhaps it was related to the crossfade settings you had? Never heard of this but it wouldn't be the first bug we've had in playback.

This happens to me whenever the values in "Bass" and "Treble" (in the root of Sound Settings) are something other than 0 (device: Sansa c250). It does not appear to happen when using the Equalizer (at least the presets).

My Sansa e250 does this as well.
I'll check the config & crossfade settings.
I'm sure I futzed with the base and trebble settings. Can't check right now. The player is hooked up in my car.
It is connected to an Audiobahn line driver to get the headphone jack output to 5V that the amps require.
At 130dB sound level the volume delay is annoying to say the least.
It will be nice if this fixes it.
It did. Thanks!
