Ipod 5.5 w/ larger HD ??

Hi.  I do not think this outside the Rockbox forum, but if it is apologies in advance.  Like so many here, am looking for the best Rockbox player.  For me, HD size is of primary important (I run FF portable, U-torrent, and store countless files on my Ipod).

I found a few sites which claim an upgrade the 5.5 from 30, 60, and 80 GB to 100, 120, and 240 GB.  It appears that changing the HD on the Ipod is not that tough (found a few vids on YouTube, and instructions online - links below).

Wondering if anyone has advice on increasing the HD size on the Ipod, and experiences.  W/ the price of HDs dropping like a rock (I just got a TB HD for $80), there should be an easy way to get a good one for the Ipod.  However, worry is that the HD must fit exact.

After searching online, here is some of what I have (all for the Ipod 5 and 5.5, 30, 60, and 80 GB).

I wonder if anyone has other recommendations to add the largest drive possible to fit in the Ipod 5 / 5.5

There's some useful information to be found here: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/HardDriveReplacement

Updates to this page are always appreciated.  According to my basic understanding, provided the drive uses a ZIF-40 interface and is the right size (physical dimensions) it should work in a 5.5g iPod.

If you get a drive bigger than 128GiB, you need to use a custom build with HAVE_LBA48 defined.

rmaniac put a 240GB drive in his iPod Video, so you might want to read through his posts.

You also may (or may not) need to do something like I did:

Appreciate it.  Thanks.  Shall stick to the 128 and less only then.
