Bootloader not working correctly.
« on: May 01, 2009, 10:00:30 PM »
So when I got this iPod from my friend it already had iPod linux on it and the bootloader was a box and I could select what firmware I wanted to boot into with the scroll wheel.

Then I installed rockbox with it's bootloader and now...?

There is no box to choose a firmware.
My iPod (mini 1G) will usually boot into rockbox but every now and then it decides to go into the apple firmware?

Is it supposed to do that or am I missing something?

Read the manual - it will explain how to boot into the Apple firmware or the Rockbox firmware.

Also, a somewhat undocumented feature, which may be of interest if you still plan to use iPodLinux.

If you hold PLAY whilst booting, the Rockbox bootloader looks for a file called linux.bin in the root of your FAT32 partition.

As far as I know this is still true, though I haven't had an iPod for quite some time.  I used to triple boot Apple's firmware, Rockbox and iPL via Rockbox's bootloader.
