Two Problems

Hey. I have two problems. One is that in the plugins wiki it says rocklife can open .cells files, but I can't seem to get it to open them. The other is that even though I have a midi patchset, whenever I try to play a midi file, it tells me I have no midi instruments. Any help would be appreciated.

do you have the recommended patchset (I have heard in the past that that is the only one that works) that is found on the wiki page?

did you extract the contents to /.rockbox/patchset ?

Yes I did have the recommended patchset, but I just now got it working again. So one problem down, one more to go.

What version of Rockbox are you running?

Did you try to find the file, then long click on it to go to the system like menu where there is the "open with" option and then click on rocklife?

Yes I tried that, you can't choose rocklife when you use open with, so I added it to the viewers config and assigned it to cells files, but it just opened rocklife like it usually would if I had chosen it from the games menu. No extra cells.

You didn't mention which version of Rockbox you are using.

I'm using 3.2.

You need to use a current build if you want that capability.  Use a build more recent than r20611 if you want this feature.

I did that just now, but now it says it can't load the rockbox.ipod file, so rockbox won't load.

You'll need to connect using Apple's disk mode, apparently, and install a fresh build.  Somehow the rockbox.zip either didn't get extracted properly or something got corrupted.  How did you update?

OK. I just restored my ipod and installed everything over again. No problems this time, and .cells files are loading. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome.  I'm glad you got it working (though it probably wasn't necessary to restore your iPod).  Loading .cells files was something I wanted for a long time.
