Thinking about getting a new rockbox supported player
« on: April 28, 2009, 10:31:16 PM »
I was thinking about getting a GigabeatS and I have some questions.
Yes i know its not fully supported by rockbox yet but i see its hoped to get included in the next release. 3.3
What is the difference between the F series and the S series with rockbox.
I see the S has 12? buttons and the F has 9. Whats the difference between the clickable buttons there?
Is the screen any bigger? I did notice that the F and the S have different links on themes.rockbox.org so I was assuming that it did.
The S series has a zif connector correct?
Any other info on the two players would be great help too.
Also i read this on the wiki....

The DAC driver does not support the hardware EQ capabilities of the chip yet. I am resisting the temptation to relegate the hardware EQ to Bass/Treble tone control status regarless of what has been done in similar situations. I may just go ahead and do something and consider it five tone controls. -MAS
what does this mean exactly?

How many of these questions did you really try to research? The screen resolution should be covered in the wiki. Not to mention, if you go to the themes.rockbox.org pages, you'll see both the F and S share the same themes, players just have a different link to make it easier to find the right one for your player.

What are you asking about clickable buttons? I'm assuming you don't mean "where are they" because you can get that just by looking at pictures of the player.

Could you just be more specific, in general, about your questions?

thanks yapper and the reason why i asked about the clickable buttons is because sometimes i have a hard time finding the crosspad without looking on the F.
