Database seems to be endlessly building [SOLVED]

(1/1)

Antan:
I have been trying to get my SDHC card working with rockbox for a long time now, searching through posts reinstalling rockbox, the works.

It's  still not working.  And I am getting some what frustrated.

I have Version 3.2-090323

Currently I have one mp3 file that I know that works on the internal memory.  That seems to play fine the database builds and finds the file perfectly fine.  I also have one known mp3 file on the SDHC card.  But when I go to update the database it seems to endlessly build the database.

This is the message I get when trying to go to the database "Building database... 811232 found (PREV to return)."  I've been letting it sit for a few minutes know and that 800000+ number just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Any ideas?

You might want to check the file system on the SD card for errors - folk in the past have had directory entries pointing to directories higher up in the path creating a loop

Antan:
Aha!

Thank you for the input.  My current only way of using an SDHC card was using my oder MP3 player as an SDHC reader.  After putting music on there t would update the database on there and change the format.

When I stuck the card in my friends computer (he has an SDHC reader built in) I had to format it because it was unreadable.  After putting some music on the card using his computer it worked i my Sansa e260 perfectly fine.

Thank you for getting me to think about it the right way!

I have a c240 and have been using a rockbox build with USB support (that was not in the 3.2 release that you seem to have) with no problems - admittedly I have a faily static set of files on there (no regular podcast downloads).

No need for an external card reader, folk have said it is a bit slower but I can't judge as I don't have a non HC card to use with the original firmware.
