Offtopic - looking for a car stereo to plug my rockbox'ed player into via USB
« on: April 19, 2009, 08:02:54 AM »
Hi,

Has anybody had success plugging their Rockbox'ed player into a car stereo via USB? I don't necessarily want to control things from my player; it's fine if it appears as a mass storage device, but the car stereo needs to be able to recurse the folder structure, and be able to play in random order mode across all folders.

Suggestions?

Thanks

If the car stereo should just treat the Ipod as mass storage device what's the issue? The Ipod is a mass storage device. No changes here. Same applies for all other players -- if Rockbox has its own USB mode it's UMS, and for the devices with hardware USB it's UMS too.

yes it works, but i have seen some problems changing from car stereo to car stereo. i must say that all of them were actually of a cheap make, but i think u have to test the new one intense, which is not always really possible before buying. for example my current medion one has problems to remember where it stopped playing and starts up with first track on disc every time i turn it on...
