Countdown timer H320 build?

(1/2) > >>

myotis2004:
Hi, I'm doing wildlife research where my recorder must be left out in the field and must start recording at a specific time and stop recording at a specific time every day. I think the countdown timer for recording does this and I was able to apply this patch to Rockbox 2 years ago but now I am unable to do so. I guess too many things have changed since then but I really don't know anything about programming. I have an iRiver H320. I was wondering if someone would be able to help me out and send me a H320 Rockbox build that includes this patch. I would really appreciate it. It is very important that I be able to do this with my iRivers.

Thanks in advance

Just as a heads up, I doubt someone will send you an actual build, but more or less give you help on what to do to fix it.

What kind of errors are you recieiving if you try to apply it?

myotis2004:
I tried to patch the currently available rockbox source code with cntdntimer9[1].7.1.patch. Then error I get from Cygwin is:

can't find file to patch at input line 5
Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:
---------------------------------
:Index: apps/recorder/icons.h
:======================================
:--- apps/recorder/icons.h        <revision 13131>
:+++ apps/recorder/icons.h     <working copy>
----------------------------------
File to patch:

I reproduced this as well as I could.  I'm not sure what the -p and --strip do. Can someone tell me what this means?

the patch just seems to be out of sync, I wish i could help but i am just learning C and dont have much programming expierience.

if you arent, try using the command patch --binary -p0 < patchfilename and be sure that the patch is in the same directory as the sources.

Other than that i wouldnt be able to help you any more, sorry.

Thanks for the suggestion. It was a good one, but I end up with a majority of unsuccessful patches. Maybe someone with more programming skills might be able to figure it our but I'm really not sure cuz this is a pretty tough problem. This patch would be great in the official build.
