defrag/reformat?
« on: April 18, 2009, 05:47:37 AM »

Hi, I have an iriver H120, it started putting gaps in the .wav files whenever I record, I assume it needs a defrag or something

I have done a LOT of live recording with it...I copy the files to my PC in windows XP, then delete them from the rockbox.  however I always need to run the "scan" utility afterwards or rockbox doesn't recognize the free space

is it easier/better to just wipe the drive & reinstall rockbox? or should I defrag?

 thx!!

A defrag is a good idea. Your iriver's hard drive will thank you later. ;)

If your hard drive is anywhere near full, simply copying all the files off of it, and then copying them back on will defrag it with less wear and tear than a true defrag program.

copying all the files off of it, and then copying them back on

= moving them off then back on.
