Saving settings

I have ipod, 5th gen, 80gb.

So, when I change the settings like: themes, the EQ, crossfading, backlight, or even the start up screen; as soon as I turn it off & turn it back on it's all reset. 

What is up?

 How are you turning off the ipod?

One reason for this could be filesystem corruption. Try running chkdsk or fsck.vfat on it.
