Ipod nano "no ipod detected!"
GodEater:
That's a 2nd Generation Nano - which Rockbox does not run on.
doctor tropico:
Hi all.
I've got this same problem.
Ipod Nano 1st Gen. software version 1.3.1, format Macintosh
Rockbox Utility version 1.2.5
Autodetect gives me "Could not detect a Mountpoint. Select your Mountpoint manually", but when I do that and try to install I get "Could not open iPod".
any thoughts?
karashata:
Rockbox cannot be installed to MacPods, you'll need to reformat it as a WinPod (Translation: HFS+ is not supported by Rockbox, format it as FAT32). The easiest way to accomplish this would be to borrow a computer running Windows and reformat it with the Windows iTunes, however, someone else may know of a way to do the same thing on the Mac.

And I've already asked for the System Trace output which would have shown the problem directly. Rockbox requires a FAT formatted Ipod (so-called "WinPod"). There is a bug in Rockbox Utility that prevents the correct hint getting displayed. This has been fixed in svn, so the next release will show an actual useful error message. Nevertheless, you need to convert the Ipod. There's IpodConversionToFAT32 in the wiki describing how to do this. Please read the documentation first, Rockbox requiring a FAT formatted Ipod is documented all over the place.
doctor tropico:
Thanks, will do that. I've must have looked over it when reading the manual... I'm not so familiar with all these technical things.
