won't unmount in linux - ipod nano 1st gen (CrunchBang Linux)
« on: April 10, 2009, 09:03:05 PM »
Anyone have a same setup?, it seems to unmount fine on windows xp, but when I unmount in CB Linux, the rockbox screen does not change to original ipod menus.

I unplugged it anyway and the my nano got stuck while playing my flac file.

anyone know a fix?

thanks,

gychang

Same here. Rockbox 3.9.1 on iPod nano 1st gen. Happens (or fails to happen) consistently on Linux (Gentoo). I even tried it on a Mac.

Symptom is: when I plug in via USB, screen changes to a USB cable. When I type 'eject /dev/ipod' the ipod screen remains as-is (USB cable). Same thing on the Mac when pressing the Eject arrow. (I expected the device to recognize that it has been unmounted, and to display a different screen).

I'm new to Rockbox. I've searched web & forums for eject, eject+nano, dismount, various other combinations. Searched the bug database.

I don't think Rockbox has any way of knowing that you've unmounted the file system on the PC.

It *could* react on an eject command (though I don't know the details), but it simply doesn't do it. The USB connection screen will always be shown if there is a USB connection, regardless if the player is mounted or not. So this behaviour is not a problem.
