New USB Stack
« on: April 10, 2009, 09:47:08 AM »
Firstly I  must say that I am very impressed with the new USB stack. I installed build #r20674-090410 on my sansa e270 When I plugged it in it worked just as well as the sansa firmware. It charged it and file transfer worked flawlessly at full speed. I do have 1 question though. Can this firmware be used to write to a micro sdhc card in the sansa or do you still need to use a card reader. I am thinking of picking up and 8gb chip so a response would be helpful.

It'll work fine.  SDHC has nothing to do with USB.

yes the 8GB MicroSDHC cards should work as i got one recently myself for $19.99 out the door.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820171371 (currently $30.99 + free shipping but if you wait a day or two it will probably be either $18.99 or $19.99 out the door)  ... that's the exact one i have myself. it shows 'Class4' on the website but it's actually a Class2 card but it's write speed in Rockbox is around 4MB/s (according to Windows Vista) so it's basically Class4 speed.

i recommend that card over other brands as the Sandisk brand is generally one of the better more reliable brands out there and it's only a few bucks more (well once it goes back to 19.99 or less that is :) ) than some of the cheaper brands.
