Button press is ignored on Sansa E250 and E280

I just received a woot bucket of crap!  lol
It had 12 Sansa mp3 players in it!  10 E2xx, 1 C240, 1 express.

Anyway, my old e250 has a problem, after a playlist ends, the next button press is ignored.  I had assumed my E250 was broken somehow.  But I rockboxed some of my newer E2xx players and I have seen the same problem.  I can't reproduce it on demand.  But I think this might be it:
Using file, select a song, can be last on the list.  While song(s) are playing the display will shut off.  After playing is done, move wheel to turn on display, now hit a button, it is ignored.  The next button press is fine.  I think it thinks the screen is off and the first button press is to turn on the display, but it is already on.  This has been a problem for over 3 months.

While writting this post I got another issue.  The song ended and the display was still on or turned on, not sure.  But the wheel would not work until I pressed a button, select I think.  I don't recall having this issue before today.  I installed current RB on this E280 today.  version r20662-090408.
