e250R trouble with install
« on: April 05, 2009, 05:20:45 PM »
I closely followed these instructions:  http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200RInstallationFromWindows

Everything went fine until the last step:  after the e250R refreshed the database, it rebooted and froze on the SanDisk logo.

remains frozen and wont connect vis USB.  Solution?

ver. 01.02.18A

It seems that the Rockbox bootloader doesn't load and you can't get to the OF.  Try these instructions for restoring the original firmware: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200Unbrick

thanks.

The e250R wont connect to the computer via usb in normal mode, it stays frozen.

In Recovery mode, It doesnt seem to be connecting correctly either.  The screen gives me the **Welcome to Recovery Mode** message followed by "Please connect USb cable"  .

I then connect the cable and the unit says
USB cable connected
Enter USB2.0 MSD mode

windows then recognizes the e250R as a drive "16MB-FORMAT (E:)"

The drive 16MB-FORMAT (E:) has only one file titled version.txt

this file contains:

Version Info: Product Rev.:
Base Code:
ODM Ver.:
OEM Ver.:
Build Type:
Build Date:
Build Number:

I have located the original .mi4 to copy.  I cant figure out how to unbrick if i cant copy files to the root directory.

thanks

Thats normal and explained in the link Chronon posted.  However, you should read it carefully, because doing the wrong thing here can badly break your player.

thanks,  you clarified the instructions.

This process did finally work.
I discovered that despite the unti having Rhapsody and e250R stamped on the back, it needed the e200  series PP5022.mi4 file.

It is a refurb and maybe that had something to do with it.  Thanks all.

For the sake of future readers, there's an entry in the FAQ describing how to distinguish Rhapsody from non-Rhapsody e2x0.  http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaFAQ#Which_Sansa_models_does_Rockbox
