Pictureflow freaks out on ogg albums

Whenever I open an album of ogg tracks, pictureflow crashes, filling the screen with colored pixels and Rockbox freezes and I have to toggle the battery switch.  The tracks play fine in normal mode and album art shows fine.

That's quite plausible.  Those have pretty long ID3 tags.  I will build it with the patch sometime this week.

I'm not sure if you used "ID3" here as a general term for metadata or if you really meant the "ID3 tags" typically used for MP3 files? If it's the latter then it wouldn't be surprising that they don't work (although it could be handled in a nicer way). Rockbox only supports a codec's native tag format which is vorbis comments for Ogg vorbis, if I remember correctly.
