Sansapatcher switches
ThaCrip:
to get to the point...
"sansapatcher.exe -a PP5022.mi4" (without the ") is what you want to do to use the new bootloader.
p.s. i aint sure if it matters but i would recommend using the original sansa firmware when doing the bootloader installation. it might work from rockbox's USB but since i never tried it and dont know it's best to play it safe and do it from original sansa firmware.
Llorean:
If it doesn't work in the Rockbox USB mode, there's a bug and you should report it. If it does work, then there's no problem. But there's no need to keep recommending people not do it - it's supposed to work.
Also "aint" is not a word.

thanks for clearing up the issue that it WILL work in Rockbox's USB.
since i was not sure i did not want to tell people to do it just to make sure they did not potentially brick there players. in the future i wont tell people to use original firmware if this question comes up again.

Hi:
I just tried to update to rockbox firmware on my Sansa c250. I followed the instructions:
sansapatcher.exe -a PP5022.mi4.
It reported success but when I turned the player on it just goes to a blank screen and will not respond to any keys and will not turn off. If I reset the battery and plug it into the computer, it shows the sansa screen briefly and then goes to a blank screen . . .
I was confident after Llorean reported it would work but as far as I can tell, I bricked my player.
Any suggestions?
Tom

PP5022.mi4 is the e200 firmware I think. Looking online, the c200 uses firmware.mi4.

I did something like this once by flashing the wrong firmware file to my e280. Its fixable but rather complicated. You'll need to follow the e200unbrick guide:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200Unbrick#Manufacturing_Mode
You can try recovery mode, but you probably destroyed that, so you'll have to use Manufacturing Mode. Basically this lets up load a new bootloader into DRAM, then you boot that bootloader, get into recovery mode, and then write a new bootloader to disk.
