Hi:

  Many thanks Saratoga! On one hand the unbrick guide/manufacturing mode was indeed quite a complicated process but it's amazing that such a process exists and works so well. It took about a half an hour to rebuild the Sansa and reinstall Rockbox. This time I got it right with the firmware.mi4 and now have a usb charging Rockbox and didn't lose any of my music.

  I'm still fishing for v1 players on ebay for colleagues and friends--hoping that the v2 version eventually works out as well.
