ASF surround sound format on Rockbox/IPOD
« on: March 31, 2009, 04:53:24 AM »
Hi all,

I recently tried out some web radio recording software and one station I wanted to record and play on rockbox is at:

    http://www.omroep.nl/live/concertzender-5channel.asx

The audio is in ASF format, which I think contains WMA format, 384 kbits/s, 5-channel surround sound.
It doesn't play on the latest rockbox version (on my IPOD video), although according to the manual, ASF
and WMA are supported. Maybe the problem is the 5 channels?

I can also convert the recordings to another format, but I thought it would be nice to have the original around in case I ever get a stereo that can actually play surround sound. I'm also not sure how much sound quality you loose by converting. Any suggestions?
