[SOLVED] Patching with Cygwin

(1/1)

froggyman:
OK, so i finally was able to figure out how to compile rockbox, and i even compiled my own!  ;D

But, now i want to learn how to patch. I did read the guide, working with patches, but i have some questions about the patching. When i enter the " patch < C:/ path/to/patch.patch " it then asks me for a file to patch, and when i give it the path to the rockbox source, it tells me that it is not a regular file and cannot patch.

I know i did something wrong, but what, i tried it with the p-0-5 command added, but got the same error.

Is there a different file i should be patching, vs. giving it the rockbox source folder?

EDIT: i do have the patch program installed on my computer.

rasher:
You need to be (usually) in the root dir of the Rockbox sources.

Type pwd and make sure the output shows the top-level dir of Rockbox' source.

froggyman:
so do you mean like the patches have to be in the root directory of the sources then?

EDIT: ok i figured it out and it patched just fine!!! thanks a ton!
