IRiver 120 problem w/Rockbox

Loaded some FLACs onto the IRiver the other day, safely removed the IRiver from the laptop, then suddenly had this message:

ATA error: -32
Insert USB cable and press a button

Followed instruction but player did nothing. Was still able to boot machine using original firmware, so figured it was a rockbox issue, not an IRiver issue. Was able to uninstall Rockbox, then reinstall it, but am still getting the same error message. Any suggestions?
