v3.2 USB Question.
« on: March 23, 2009, 08:23:20 PM »
is there any 'easy' way to enable the USB stack on the v3.2 stable release?

because all i want to do is keep it identical to v3.2 stable but turn on USB.

thanks for your time ;)

Not without compiling your own build, no.

is there any semi-easy way to do it with compiling? , or do i need to know code in order to do it etc?

im just curious because i would like to ask for more details on how to do it but i guess you guys are busy and probably don't want to 'spoon feed' me on this issue even though i would like that ;) lol

but anyways, thanks for your time.

If you work your way through the SimpleGuideToCompiling in the docs index you should be able to get a handle on what's needed to apply patches and build your own rockbox.  There are a bunch of related articles in the For Developers section.  I taught myself how to do it in an afternoon.  You don't really need to know how to program if you only want to apply an existing patch and build the resulting Rockbox.

Why not just use the current build, where USB is still enabled?

I know how to compile, could someone tell me? Also, for usb stack booting (not into OF) do I have to have a special bootloader?

well thanks for everyone's time, but i just got someone i helped test a issue a little while ago to do it for me ;)

so now i got a copy of v3.2 but with USB on.

@ motionman95 ... yes there is a special bootloader you can use to make it so the sansa player dont boot into the original firmware anymore unless you specifically tell it to. ( http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9955 ) ... im using that myself and it appears fine for me. just do a 'sansapatcher.exe -a PP5022.mi4' to update the Sansa e200 series bootloader to that new one with the files included. NOTE: i aint sure if this works from rockbox's USB so i would probably boot the original sansa firmware when you do the sansapatcher.exe stuff i said above to be safe.
