Simulator vs. Winamp

(1/1)

Job Van Dam:
I have a pretty good sound card that, I'm pretty sure, can support more than 2 audio tracks playing at once, even my old PC didn't have this problem.

For some reason on my PC when the Simulator has focus it plays music and Winamp stops playing music (also it fast forwards the current track but when I go back to it it starts from the same location) and when Winamp has focus it plays music and the simulator stops playing music.

This same behavior also applies to Foobar2000 and the Simulator.

For some reason this behavior doesn't happen with Media Player Classic and the Simulator.

Winamp and Foobar2000 can play music at the same time though.

I would like to get this fixed because I like to listen to Winamp while using the Simulator. Also because Winamp supports global hotkeys which is very convenient.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking this is a PC problem rather than a Simulator problem...

saratoga:
SDL probably locks the audio interface while its running.  Try changing the output device in Winamp to whichever one MPC is using.

Job Van Dam:
Winamp has only one option for Audio Output... :-[

When I changed MPC to DirectSound it had the same problems as Winamp.

I downloaded a Audio Output plugin for Winamp that fixed the problem but it reallys stinks when it comes to web radio, makes Winamp unresponsive and act weird. I'd rather not use it.

Is it possible that both the Simulator and Winamp can use the same audio yeah? Isn't the technology there?

EDIT: Thank you Saratoga for your help, I re-installed Winamp with the old school waveOut output and no more issues.

Try this, too.
