Playlist for sansa E280 ext sdcard songs

(1/1)

drjazz1947:
Hello
I have a sansa E280 V1 with latest rockbox.
Im trying to access files on a 2 GB micro Sdcard using playlists.

I can use the files command and navigate to microSD1 and then to a folder of songs and play them. BUT when I try to use a playlist to access the songs and play them , the playlist does not work. Any ideas on how to
make playlists work for songs on microsd card.

I used Win XP playlist creator 3 to make the playlist .any other workable suggestions for making a playlist which works on the sdcard, are welcome!
many thanks
stephen

#EXTINF:156,Boogie Woogie Hits (Disc 1) - 13/20 - Canadian Capers - Jack Fina
\microSD1\boogie-misc\Canadian Capers - Jack Fina.mp3
#EXTINF:173,Boogie Woogie Hits (Disc 2) - 7/20 - Careless Love - Billy Maxted Trio
\microSD1\boogie-misc\Careless Love - Billy Maxted Trio.mp3

bluebrother:
Put the playlist on the SD card and use relative paths instead of absolute ones.

The \microSD1\ needs to be \<microSD1>\ for that playlist work properly in rockbox. You can use an editor and mass replace microSD1 with <microSD1>.

Chronon:
If the playlist is on the SD card then you can just have /boogie-misc/Stardust Boogie (Stan Kenton).mp3

Thanks to the 3 gentlemen who posted the valuable tips.
I found from your posts two valuable solutions for playlists for
songs on the ext microsd card

1) to put an m3u entry in the "playlist" folder
on root level of the main  Sansa E280 8G, I used XP playlist creator
to create a playlist with the <microSD1> in front of each Mp3 entry.
you can use the playlists command/folder from main Sansa E280
to load in a playlist of songs actually on the microsd
The playlist looks as follows:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:162,Boogie Woogie Hits (Disc 2) - 12/20 - Stardust Boogie (Stan Kenton)
\<microSD1>\boogie-misc\Stardust Boogie (Stan Kenton).mp3
#EXTINF:156,Boogie Woogie Hits (Disc 1) - 13/20 - Canadian Capers - Jack Fina
\<microSD1>\boogie-misc\Canadian Capers - Jack Fina.mp3

2) the 2nd solution required saving playlists on the microsd card
I created a folder called "playlists2" on the microsd and used
XP playlist creator with a relative path option & I  saved the
m3u play list directly to the "playlists2" folder on microsd.

In this case I had to use the "files" command to navigate
to the microsd card into the "playlists2" folder and choose
the playlist I want. The playlist looks as follows:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:162,Boogie Woogie Hits (Disc 2) - 12/20 - Stardust Boogie (Stan Kenton)
..\boogie-misc\Stardust Boogie (Stan Kenton).mp3
#EXTINF:173,Boogie Woogie Hits (Disc 2) - 7/20 - Careless Love - Billy Maxted Trio
..\boogie-misc\Careless Love - Billy Maxted Trio.mp3

thanks again for all of your helpful
suggestions & solutions & hope this will help other newbies like me.
