5th Gen. iPod "dd command fail"
« on: March 22, 2009, 01:46:11 PM »
Hey every1,
I am running tiger on a mac and I was about to format my ipod in order to run rockbox on it.
So I enabled the disk mode on my iPod, found out the name of the drive (disk1), found the secotr size (512) yet when I ran the command:
wireless-205-208-125-015:/Users/N/Desktop root# dd if=mbr-video30gb.bin of=/dev/disk1
dd: /dev/disk1: Resource busy

I have absolutely no clue  what "resource busy" and means and any help is appreciated.
Best Nicholas

PS I have an iPod Video 30 GB if that helps in any way...

Check if itunes is still running and blocking access to the drive -- I'd guess that something like this is the cause.
